Billed as the fourth generation of digital photography, this model has a matt black metal finish and a shutter response time of 0.14 seconds, making it quicker than a conventional 35mm, according to Ricoh. The 3.24 mega-pixel camera also features 3x optical zoom, a start-up speed of 1.8 seconds and a flash recycling time of 2.8 seconds. Six scene modes — portrait, sports, landscape, night, text and high sensitivity — are available. Power is supplied by a lithium-ion battery, providing 430 standard shots between charges. Users also have the option of substituting two AA alkaline or nickel metal hydride batteries as a back up or operating with an AC adaptor. A Caplio G4 wide model is also available. Ricoh claims it is the first 3 mega-pixel camera with a wide-angle lens, offering a viewing angle of 76 degrees. The Caplio G4 is available through Ricoh.
RRP: $479; G4 wide $549
