Cloud data management software vendor Redstor has appointed Duan Botha as pre-sales manager for Australasia, tasked with engaging resellers and potential customers across the region.

"Redstor offers managed service providers many sellable features in addition to back-up and recovery," said Botha, who is based near Auckland.

Archiving, disaster recovery, search and insight, and data migration are also available – all managed through Redstor’s control centre.

“Redstor’s technology helps organisations easily figure out how much of their data is actually inactive - and would be better off archived in the cloud rather than taking up expensive primary storage space," Botha said.

“Redstor can also be used as a migration tool between hyper-visors. If customers are running VMware and want to migrate to a HyperV environment, they simply back up from one site, recover to another - and they are up and running.”

Redstor claims it is "making downtime a thing of the past" by providing on-demand access to all data, wherever it is stored, with borderless visibility designed to enhance an organisations ability to discover, search and action their data.

Botha has worked for Redstor for the last eight years, most recently as head of technical support in South Africa, so has extensive knowledge of the product.

Meanwhile, Paul Evans - co-founder and CEO of Redstor - said in the last year that the vendor had grown its cloud data management offering by more than 30 per cent internationally.

“We’ve gained numerous relationships with organisations, who are recognising great value in Redstor’s pioneering cloud data management service," Evans added. "Duan’s knowledge and experience will be invaluable as we target aggressive growth in Australasia."

Redstor claims more than 40,000 clients and 350 partners worldwide.

The appointment comes five months after South Africa-headquartered IT solutions company B-Sure Group landed in Brisbane with plans to take on Datto and StorageCraft by offering Redstor back-up and disaster recovery solutions.

Under the B-Sure IT brand, the company acts in Australia as a distributor of cyber security and networking vendor iShield Security, print solutions from Konika Minolta and also signed an exclusive deal to distribute UK-based Redstor solutions across New Zealand.
