It appears that IBM, which has been looking for a new chief financial officer since last June, has finally found its man - Douglas Maine, MCI Communications' CFO.
Maine will start working at IBM next month, MCI said. IBM officials were not immediately available for comment.
Maine has been MCI's CFO since 1992, and before that held several executive positions, according to MCI.
IBM has not had a permanent CFO since last June, when former CFO G. Richard Thoman left to work for Xerox as president and chief operating officer. In the meantime, IBM chairman and CEO Louis Gerstner had named senior vice president Lawrence Ricciardi as Thoman's temporary replacement .
