Web technology specialist Unique World has opened an office in Canberra to give it a local presence as it seeks to tap into potential Federal Government opportunities.
CEO, Eddie Geller, said there were a limited number of locally-based companies with the necessary experience in Microsoft’s Content Manager, SQL, SharePoint Portal, BizTalk and Project Server technologies.
Sydney-based Unique World is already an endorsed technology supplier for State and Federal Governments – holding NSW contracts with, among others, the Department of IT and Management, the Premier’s Department and state emergency services – and was recently accredited as a Microsoft Managed Partner.
“Our experience of implementing these technologies within a number of NSW government departments, combined with a permanent presence in Canberra, puts us in an advantageous position to enter the Federal Government market,” Geller said.
Contract negotiations with Federal Government departments are already under way and Geller is hopeful of having a couple signed up in May.
Newly-appointed sales manager, Gary Harb, will head up the new Canberra operation.
Geller envisions a team of 20 working in the ACT capital within the next year.
Recent contract wins with Optus, Microsoft, Nestle, Dairy Farmers and Woolworths have seen staff numbers at Unique World’s Sydney headquarters grow from 25 to 35 during the past six months.
