Huawei former director of channel sales Paul Richardson has vacated his role at the Chinese vendor to join Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) as its national partner and service provider sales manager.
Richardson joined HPE this week and will be based in Sydney reporting to HPE's general manager channels, distribution and alliances Marina Fronek.
"We are delighted to have Paul on board as Paul has shown a high level of commitment to the partner community in numerous roles and focusses on leading with the channel," Fronek said.
"This was a very considered appointment as we ensure that all of our HPE teams truly align to our core value of partnership first and the power of collaboration."
Fronek also said the Richardson's appointment strengthens HPE's commitment to enabling partners to grow their businesses.
Richardson has 15 years of experience working with the IT channel. He was IBM's sales manager from 2003 to 2005, later spending five years with Lenovo.
He joined Toshiba in 2010 as the national corporate sales manager, where he worked for just over two years. Richardson then re-joined IBM as the A/NZ global business partner and CSI sales manager, prior to joining Huawei in 2016.
In March 2017, Richardson was appointed as the acting director of channel sales at Huawei following Leo Lynch's departure from the vendor.
He replaces Sharon Selwood who left HPE in July to join TES-AMM, an IT end-to-end lifecycle solutions provider as its general manager for Australia and New Zealand.
His departure comes two weeks after Huawei appointed Geoff Wright as its new vice president of channel and commercial. Wright's appointment came a month after he vacated his role as director of channels across A/NZ at Dell EMC, to “pursue other opportunities” outside of the vendor.
