Back-up and disaster recovery vendor ActiveImage has appointed Bluechip Infotech as its first distributor in Australia and New Zealand.

In May, ActiveImage appointed StorageCraft's Richard Giddey as its Asia Pacific vice president.

At the time of his appointment, Giddey told ARN that he was in final stages of negotiating its first local distribution agreement.

"Bluechip's people and marketing teams have really impressed me," Giddey said. "In an era when few distributors are proactive and many have a 'bank and warehouse' attitude, Bluechip's team are aggressive and positive in promoting their partners intelligently and delivering true corporative branding."

According to Giddey, Bluechip was also selected for its reputation, complementary products and a strong and active national presence.

"ActiveImage will enhance our expansion in backup and DR portfolio and deliver an innovative backup and disaster recovery solutions for complete protection of all systems and data," said Johnson Hsiung, managing director at Bluechip Infotech.

"We are excited to have ActiveImage on board to provide the latest solution offerings to our channel partners."

In August, Bluechip Infotech was appointed WatchGuard Technologies' distributor in Australia, joining Dicker Data and Exclusive Networks.

WatchGuard chose Bluechip as it was looking to expand its regional footprint among SMB, mid-market and distributed enterprises.
