Australian software vendor Linius Technologies has appointed Stephen Pech to the newly created role of vice president of global channels and alliances.

Based in Melbourne, Pech will be responsible for driving and defining the publicly-listed vendor’s channel program across Asia Pacific, EMEA and North America as the company looks to expand internationally.

Linius has developed and patented a cloud platform that transforms static video into interactive intelligent content.

Pech, who joined the company in August, was previously TeamViewer's director of sales for APAC, having joined the business in 2016 as head of channel sales.

During his tenure he helped the business close partnerships with Dicker Data in Australia and New Zealand and several others across the wider region.

Pech also worked for Telstra for more than six years where he was last a general manager for the ICT channel distribution, having also represented Symantec and Fujitsu.

“Video content accounts for about 80 per cent of all internet traffic,” Pech said. “And, with technology giants like IBM, Amazon and Microsoft currently investing billions exploring video virtualisation services and artificial intelligence in the cloud, Linius is well positioned to capture a growing market.

"There is a massive opportunity for channel expansion with Linius’ unique ability to expose, enrich and exploit video content just like any other type of data. I’m looking forward to announcing several significant business and technology partnerships in the near future."

Pech will support Linius in its go-to-market strategy of validating the company's video virtualisation technology with proof-of-concepts and direct sales, then capitalise on those successes through channel partnerships.

“With Linius now looking to rapidly expand its channel program and network, Stephen will ensure best practice enablement of new and existing partners across Linius’ core target markets, including corporate communications, news, education and sport," Linius CEO Chris Richardson said.

“Stephen has delivered $100 million plus targets, led multi-channel sales teams, developed over 1,000 partner channels, and has co-founded a cloud business. He’s the right type of person to propel Linius to new heights by signing and supporting the right partners."
