Fintech specialists Nomis Solutions is the latest company to set up its Asia Pacific headquarters in Melbourne.
Established in 2002, Nomis Solutions global headquarters is located in the Silicon Valey, with the software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider also represented in Toronto, Canada, with Melbourne being its first outside North America.
The local office is expected to create 50 jobs over a period of five years.
“Nomis Solutions is excited at the opportunity to expand its business within the region’s fast moving financial services sector,” Nomis Solutions managing director for Asia Pacific Damian Young said.
“We’re delighted to establish our head office in Victoria, and using it as a base to expand our team locally to support our clients in Australia, New Zealand, and the wider APAC region.”
Financial services are the largest sector of the Victorian economy, employing more than 115,000 people and contributing $40 billion per year, according to the office of the Minister for Trading and Investment.
“Victoria’s thriving finance sector and talented graduates are attracting global investment and spurring on our state’s rising tech sector,” Minister for Trade and Investment Philip Dalidakis said. “We’re attracting innovative companies in modern industries that will support the jobs up of our future economy.”
A number of technology companies have set up shop in Melbourne including Stripe, Square, Airwallex, Mimecast, Assembly Payments and Moula.
Meanwhile, cloud-based project management software vendor Mavenlink expects to double its growth in the local region after establishing its Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Melbourne, in May.
The California-based vendor, which claims RSM among its consulting and implementation partners, works with thousands of professional, technology, marketing, and consulting services organisations in over 100 countries around the world.
