About 760 manager-level and employees at management and technology consulting business Accenture are being laid off as part of a global workforce reduction at the company.
Spokesman Roxanne Taylor said that the majority of the affected workers were in the US, but she wouldn't specify where they were located. Accenture, which was formerly known as Andersen Consulting, had about 76,000 workers worldwide, she said.
The layoffs werescheduled to take place immediately. Even so,Taylor said the company was "continuing to recruit" workers with different skills.
"We expect that we'll have a net increase in head count this year," she said.
