Channel expansion key as RingCentral arrives in Asia Pacific

Industry veteran joins cloud collaboration vendor as director of channels across APAC

RingCentral has expanded into the Asia Pacific market through the opening of an Australian office and the appointment of a regional channel leader in Ben Swanson.

Swanson joins the cloud collaboration vendor as director of channels across APAC, leading the business from a new sales office in Sydney, backed up by the recruitment of Dialog Information Technology as a specialist partner.

With a regional remit, Swanson comes into the role with more than 20 years of experience leading channel sales efforts across Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand, following roles at Avaya and ShoreTel.

“I’m extremely excited to join the industry leader, RingCentral, as we look to address the changing communication solutions needs of APAC businesses,” Swanson said.

“We are already seeing demand from partners and their customers. We are well-positioned to help these business customers migrate to the cloud for enhanced mobility, scalability, and collaboration.”

According to Swanson, over 80 per cent of IT purchasing in the region goes through channel partners.

As a result, the vendor is working with strategic partners such as Dialog, a Google premier partner, to offer RingCentral solutions across cloud, communications and collaboration portfolios.

“The demand for communications has shifted from on-premises systems to cloud solutions as businesses look for new-generation solutions to scale their operations more easily, save on costs, and drive greater productivity across their organisations,” Dialog national practice manager of Google Solutions, Glenn Irvine, added.

“Our customers are already asking for RingCentral, and with this partnership, we’ll be able to provide them with a single integrated solution across voice, video, online meetings, and team messaging to achieve greater business outcomes.”

Specific to partners, Swanson said the vendor’s channel program awards partners with “100 per cent commissions on all deals”, while providing the opportunity to leverage vertical and segment-specific subject-matter experts from within the company.

Headquartered in California, US, the vendor provides communications and collaboration solutions across both enterprise and small business markets, with expertise across cloud, mobility and security technologies.

Closer to home, the RingCentral office offering in Australia is delivered from service centres based in-country, with customers also offered direct peering with tier-1 local operators across the region.

Swanson said customers and partners also receive 24/7 technical support, with local billing provided in Australian dollars.
