Milestone Systems boosts A/NZ channel play with new regional chief

Former HID Global head of identity assurance for APAC, Jordan Cullis, steps in as new South Pacific country manager

Milestone Systems, the software company that last month applied to Australia’s corporate regulator to have Hills Limited (ASX:HIL) wound up, has named a new local chief as part of its local expansion.

Based in Denmark, Milestone Systems is a subsidiary of Canon and specialises in IP-based video management software and network video recorders for surveillance.

The vendor has named former HID Global head of identity assurance for the Asia Pacific region, Jordan Cullis, as its new South Pacific country manager.

Earlier this year, Milestone also revealed it had promoted Angelo Salvatore, the company’s former South Pacific country manager, to the position of Asia Pacific regional channel director, making him responsible for growing Milestone’s business and partnerships in new areas across Asia.

Salvatore, who was instrumental in establishing Milestone’s footprint in A/NZ, will now turn his hand to the emerging markets in the broader APAC region, as well as helping the company consolidate its position in established territories.

“We know his leadership as Regional Channel Director for Asia Pacific will build a stronger channel community for us that will support our growth plans in the coming years,” Milestone Systems’ Asia Pacific sales vice president, Benjamin Low, said.

Along with the new appointments, the company said it would commit more time and resources to growing its profile in the channel and enterprise sectors, a plan that is likely to draw heavily upon the combined talents of Cullis and Salvatore.

“We are extremely confident in Jordan’s leadership and his ability to guide the team and continue delivering great value to our partners, as well as support and innovation to our customers in the South Pacific region,” Low said.

“His strong, winning attitude and personality are assets that will complement Milestone System's ability to meet the needs of customers as we continue to provide the best solution available,” he said.

According to Cullis, the time is ripe for the company to bolster and build its activities in the local market and the surrounding region.

“While we have seen significant success in some market areas in A/NZ, the time is right for us to expand our activity in the region and look to new markets,” Cullis said. “My role will be to lead that expansion with our partners, systems integrators and managed service providers.”

Deatails of the company’s appointments follow a submission by the company with Australia’s corporate regulator for the winding up of local distributor, Hills Limited.

The application was commenced on 11 January and it is set to be heard on 28 February in Queensland.

It should be noted however that an application for a winding up does not mean that a company necessarily has been, or will be, wound up.

Milestone Systems, has appointed Bennett and Philip Lawyers, who told ARN they could not comment on the proceedings at this time, but that the issue should be resolved by the end of February.
