Leading Edge store enters liquidation leaving $1.2M in debt

Coffs Computing Services goes under after 15 years in business

Leading Edge Computers member store, Coffs Computing Services, has been placed in liquidation owing $1.2 million to creditors.

The company was registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) in March 2001 as Webtrap Pty Limited.

David Michael Morgan and Morgan James Chubb from Clout & Associates were appointed liquidators on 8 January 2018.

According to the report as to affairs of the company, submitted to ASIC on 18 January, unsecured creditors of the business are owed $970,000, including $851,000 to the Leading Edge Group and $81,000 to Ingram Micro.

In a separate list for claims by employees, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is claiming $35,000 and through adding employees' unpaid benefits, the claims come to $67,000.

While Coffs Computing Services' website has taken offline, an archived version of the site revealed that it was an authorised Apple reseller and also sold products from Toshiba, ASI, Canon, HP and Microsoft among others.

Furthermore, the company also provided business solutions for markets including education, mobile workforce, retail and medical.

Additionally, Coffs Computing Services offered NBN services through a partnership with Harbour ISP which included voice and data bundles.

ARN called the store but the number is no longer in service.

Leading Edge Computers is a business division of the Leading Edge Group, claiming 130 stores within its member footprint. The stores are independently owned and managed, but have access to Leading Edge trading arrangements with technology vendors.

ARN did not receive a response from the liquidators or Leading Edge Group at the time of writing.
