Networking vendor Proxim has launched a new Wireless Wizard training program to turn resellers into wide area network (WAN) experts. The scheme has been launched initially in Australia, Singapore, the UK and the US with the aim of creating a base of skilled resellers that can sell, install and support Proxim solutions.
“The four launch areas have been selected because we believe they are innovative communities,” explained Chris Dickerson, director of worldwide sales operations for Proxim.
“We want resellers to come out of the program with the ability to sell, install and then maintain networks. This might mean anything from doing software upgrades to dealing with under-performance. It creates more opportunities for our channel partners, which eventually flows back to us through increased sales,” he added.
The first Australian one-week Wireless Wizard training course was held recently in Sydney, with engineers from 18 resellers invited to attend. Modules covered WAN theory and product background before moving to more in depth technical content.
A course will be held in Melbourne at the end of the month with another in Brisbane at the start of April.
WAN distributors Triforce, Integrity Data Systems and Powercorp will also have staff trained up to take the program out to Proxim’s 700-strong reseller channel.
Proxim is hoping to run a course every month while demand lasts.
