Synnex and Taiwanese hardware manufacturer, AOPEN, have signed a new partnership in a bid to delve deeper into solutions based on the internet of things (IoT) for industry verticals such as retail, education and the industrial sector.
AOPEN specialises in the manufacture of multi-platform, ultra-small form factor computing and is an official partner for Google Chrome devices.
Synnex is already an official distributor of AOPEN products, however the new collaboration partnership will see increased an focus on embedded products such as mini-Open Pluggable Specification (OPS), digital signage and commercial chrome devices.
It is anticipated by the companies that the extension to their existing distribution arrangement will help partners and their clients tap into the IoT when using embedded products and Commercial Chrome.
“[The] AOPEN addition to the Synnex distribution portfolio gives our resellers access to new market-leading Commercial Chrome and embedded products,” Synnex Australia and New Zealand CEO, Kee Ong, said.
“The agreement comes at a time when resellers are looking to their distributor to help them capitalise on the rapid explosion of IoT enablement in the ICT channel, and we are excited to rise to meet their needs in this space across several key vertical markets.
“This partnership will ensure that we can help our customers take advantage of IoT with advanced and reliable technology,” he said.
According to Synnex, AOPEN's long and close relationship with Chrome was a major drawcard. The distributor said that AOPEN's compact Chromebox and Chromebase devices were the first commercial grade Chrome-based device from Google.
"AOPEN has pioneered Chrome in digital signage,” Synnex IoT sales and solution specialist, Rajesh Thangaraj, said. “The customisability of Chrome is new to the industry, and represents enormous potential.
“The Chromebox and Chromebase are already IoT ready: connected, robust, and easy to install and use," Thangaraj said.
For AOPEN group global chief digital officer, Stephen Borg, closer collaboration with Synnex is expected to further propel the use of such technologies among businesses.
