ASIA PACIFIC, Singapore, Nov. 30, 2004 - ProCurve Networking by HP and Mitel, a leading provider of IP communications solutions, today announced a joint networking solution and support offering designed to enable customers to easily deploy converged networks as a means to reduce infrastructure cost and complexity.

To provide enterprises with increased levels of interoperability and performance from their converged network investment, the companies signed an agreement that includes comprehensive pre- and post-sales support for customers as well as the cross-training of HP and Mitel engineers to maintain each other's products. Building on the success of Mitel and HP's global working relationship, the new offering is part of an initiative between the two companies for joint research and development, service and support.

The companies' combined offering incorporates the ProCurve Adaptive EDGE Architecture and Mitel's advanced product line of IP PBXs, IP phones and IP applications. It provides enterprises with a wide variety of enhanced benefits including advanced solutions integration; superb functionality in areas of network management, security and enterprise mobility; and the optimization of design, engineering and implementation processes.

"Most customers who are considering new or upgraded voice solutions want to discuss their alternatives with suppliers who are experts in voice solutions and with suppliers that are experts in data infrastructure, yet they ultimately want a well integrated deployment," said John McHugh, vice president and general manager, ProCurve Networking by HP.

"Our partnership with Mitel is unique because our customers and channels have access to Mitel, a company that has been in the voice business for more than 30 years, and ProCurve, which has been in the data networking business for almost two decades. Now we have the integrated sales and support model these customers demand."

"Customers benefit from this co-developed solution, especially as the network environment rapidly evolves, because our joint offering based on advanced IP applications, devices and system management tools is designed to enhance business and IT processes, levels of customer service and employee productivity," said Don Smith, chief executive officer, Mitel.
