Ingram Micro has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with US-headquartered Entrust Datacard, a provider of trusted identity and secure transaction technology solutions.
As a result, resellers will have access to Entrust Datacard’s range of printers and certified supplies for secure cards production, which allows the production of simple ID cards, payment cards and access cards.
“Ingram Micro has a fast growing, specialty product business and the Entrust Datacard range of solutions perfectly complements our growth strategy in this area,” Ingram Micro general manager, Andrew Upshon, said.
“With our respective market leaderships, I believe we will bring growth in this category for our reseller partners and for both of our companies.”
Entrust Datacard card personalisation solutions can incorporate magnetic stripe, RFID, tactile impression of ID photos, UV printing, holographic images, smart contact areas and serialised laminates.
Upshon said the ability to quickly produce personalised, highly-secure cards matched with certified supplies, makes the Entrust Datacard range of desktop printers an attractive proposition in today’s security conscious environment.
“Security is at the forefront of today’s business and technological challenges. Long before you worry about who is logging onto your network, you need to be managing physical security with access control mechanisms.”
“This is where the Entrust Datacard desktop printer solutions, combined with the company’s TruCredential software suite, can offer a level of speed, convenience and ease-of-use in producing secure cards that would have been considered impossible only two or three years ago,” Upshon added.
According to Upshon, the partnership opens up a range of opportunities for Ingram’s channel partners. Ingram said it has Entrust’s full range available.
In late October, Ingram signed a partnership with security vendor AlienVault. Ingram now offers access to AlienVault’s Unified Security Management (USM) platform, while providing added capabilities in the cloud through Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
AlienVault specialises in threat detection, incident response and compliance, alongside vulnerability assessment and asset discovery capabilities.
From a channel perspective, the vendor predominantly works with value-added resellers, system integrators and managed security service providers, leveraging technology alliances with Cisco, Fortinet, Carbon Black, Blue Coat and Palo Alto Networks along the way.
