Micro Focus names Todd Parsons as new A/NZ channel boss

Former Avaya channel man, Todd Parsons, to lead the channel partner organisation

Micro Focus has appointed former Avaya A/NZ channel director, Todd Parsons, to lead the channel partner organisation in Australia and New Zealand.

Parsons brings 20 years of experience in the IT industry to Micro Focus where he’s held commercial and marketing roles as well as in channel leadership roles.

Parsons started at Hewlett Packard, now Hewlett Packard Enterprise, as a commercial channel manager, spending six years with the vendor, being promoted to A/NZ marketing services director and later to consumer marketing director.

During this time, he acquired extensive experience working with channel partners and has developed SMB programs.

Parsons also worked for Sun Microsystems for almost five years as a commercial business manager then moving to Oracle, where he spent almost two years.

In 2010, he joined NetApp where he was A/NZ channel sales and alliances director. He then was appointed Avaya’s A/NZ channel director where he spent almost two years before moving to a consultant role with In2health.

Micro Focus completed the spin merger with HPE Software business in September becoming a US$4.5 billion company with 40,000 customers around the world.

“As we embark on the journey of this new merged company, we are looking at re-investing and transforming our go-to-market with our channel partners and distributors across APJ,” Micro Focus APJ president, Stephen McNulty, said.

“We are excited to have Todd Parsons joining us to lead the channel partner organisation in ANZ which will provide the right leadership for our teams and partners. Todd brings to the Micro Focus team a passion for building an engaged, capable, and profitable partner community.”

According to McNulty, Parsons believes in two fundamental principles in partnering.

“The first being a good partnership needs relevance on both sides to be successful. The second is scale: the partnership needs to enable both businesses to scale and grow profitably,” McNulty added.

During September, Micro Focus held several events in order to get the partner community educated about who, and what, the combined entity has to offer.

At the time, McNulty told ARN that customers and partners are largely interested to know things such as the reasons why Micro Focus acquired the HPE software business in the first place, what products they can absorb, what they can do with the HPE products, and what is complementary to existing Micro Focus products.

In May, HPE Australia started the process of transferring staff from its software business to a new entity in relation to the spin-merger. 

McNulty said that the total number of HPE Australian staff being transferred is close to 280 people. Now, both businesses combined have more than 350 employees in Australia.
