Former head of managed services at Capgemini, Amit Bassi, will be taking charge of the Australian operation for Amazon Web Services partner, BlazeClan Technologies, as it opens up its first Sydney office.
This makes up the seventh office globally for the Indian-headquartered cloud services provider, adding to its presence in Malaysia, Singapore, Belgium, USA and Canada.
Prior to launching BlazeClan in Australia, Bassi spent about seven years at Capgemini across various roles, and was most recently its head of managed services.
Bassi said the timing was right to enter the Australian market on the back of increasing demand for cloud services in the mid market and small start-up sectors.
“Looking at the market, there’s a large focus on enterprises, with everyone going after the big pie. Whereas smaller customers that would like to embrace the cloud journey, struggle a bit in terms of the locally available high cost models,” Bassi said.
BlazeClan will be investing in hiring local talent and currently has openings for solution architects. Building its Australian customer base will be a top priority along with expanding its capabilities in areas such as machine learning, IoT and AI, Bassi added.
“We will be investing in talent, creating jobs and also leveraging our existing capabilities across the globe to service this market,” he said.
One of the factors that will differentiate BlazeClan in the market is its laser focus on AWS, which accounts for 95 per cent of its business, Bassi said.
BlazeClan’s customer base spans media and entertainment, banking, financial services and insurance industries. Some of its top customers include Domino’s, Viacom 18, Astro International and the Bombay Stock Exchange.
“Our offerings not only spread across the AWS platform, we also strongly believe that agility, automation and cloud - all three, go hand-in-hand, which means what we’re offering in the market, is complete capability around DevOps, native cloud application development and big data analytics,” he said.
“We have a very comprehensive portfolio for a customer, and as a partner, we can take them to the cloud journey end-to-end.”
BlazeClan maintains AWS APN Premier and Managed Services partner status and has amassed a collection of AWS awards including Partner of the Year 2015 - ASEAN, Consulting Partner of the Year - India 2017, and Customer Obsession 2014 and 2015.
