Technocrat and Acquia team up for Brisbane Airport web refresh

Pitch in on deal to deliver digital platform for better passenger service

Digital agency, Technocrat, and content management system vendor, Acquia, have partnered to deliver a new digital presence for the Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) as part of a multibillion-dollar project.

To offer better services for the 500,000 or so daily visitors to the airport's web portals, the new BAC website is powered by Acquia Platform, a cloud-based digital experience management solution. 

The partner, Technocrat, is responsible for delivering the open source content management platform, Drupal 8.

“The new website, to be delivered by Acquia and Technocrat, will provide travellers with improved communications and simplified processes to enhance their physical and online experience at Brisbane Airport,” BAC head of ICT and business solutions, Mansoor Karatela, said. 

“The enhanced offering is part of a phased digital roll-out that continues to build upon digital innovation and our on-going commitment to deliver great customer experience at Brisbane Airport," he said.

The project has been split in two phases. The first phase will focus on delivering a “clean and contemporary” online presence to deal with passenger’s basic needs including seeking and checking flights, finding retail shops, dining and other facilities.

The second phase will focus improving navigation and communications for partners and investors.

“From speed, to innovation and the million strong community, Drupal 8 represents the future for the best digital customer experience,” Technocrat CEO, Anand Vasan, said. “It absolutely supports the vision that Brisbane Airport Corporation has for its online and offline presence, and our team is looking forward to working with BAC in this high profile project.”

BAC is investing $3.8 billion over a decade redeveloping and expanding the Brisbane Airport (BNE). BAC is investing $2.2 billion over the next five years for airside, landside, terminal and building projects.

Brisbane Airport is the third largest in visitor numbers in Australia and the largest in land size. More than 22.5 million passengers travelled through the airport in 2016. BNE has two major terminals servicing 30 airlines flying direct to 79 national and international destinations.
