CyberArk drops US$42 million on Conjur in DevOps play

Dives into networks with automated account security management solution

Israel-based cyber security company, Cyberark, is making a play at the DevOps market through a $42 million purchase of DevOps security software company, Conjur.

The deal brings a automated account management solution to secure the DevOps life cycle and cloud-native environments.

CyberArk said this is a first of its kind solution.

Conjur is a privately-held a Massachusetts-based provider of DevOps security software platform for securing applications and workloads as they are migrated to a cloud.

CyberArk said the additional technology will allow it to reach deeper into the DevOps lifecycle to protect secrets and manage machine identities.

“While empowering organisations with more efficiency and speed, the DevOps process is also dramatically expanding the attack surface across the entire enterprise,” CyberArk chairman and CEO, Udi Mokady, said.

“CyberArk’s acquisition of Conjur further strengthens our market leadership position – providing the industry’s only enterprise-class solution for privileged account security and secrets management on premises, in the cloud and across the DevOps pipeline.

"Now with Conjur, CyberArk customers can truly embrace DevOps without compromising on security,” he said.

CyberArk has made some noise in the cyber security industry in recent years after the vendor’s financial results in 2014 stunned the market and upset the traditional players.

Growth has not been as rapid in successive years but the company remains a hot property.

Locally, the company intensified its channel focus in 2016 with the appointment of Vincent Goh as its new vice president of sales for Asia Pacific and Japan.

In addition Bruce Nixon joined the company as channel manager for Australia and New Zealand, while Adel Eid was appointed as senior director of channels for Asia-Pacific and Japan.
