ShoreTel will soon promote its Asia and Africa sales and customer success regional director, Ben Swanson, to the role of A/NZ regional director. Swanson’s looming promotion comes just a few months of him accepting his previous role.
Swanson’s promotion also comes not long after Shoretel A/NZ managing director, Jamie Romanin stepped down from his role after nine years with the company. Swanson is the direct replacement for Romanin and will take on the responsibilities he held in addition to others.
In this new role at ShoreTel, Swanson will take on the overall responsibility for its business operations in A/NZ. He will also be tasked to lead the company’s A/NZ team, focusing on continued growth of the business and expanding ShoreTel’s cloud services in the region.
Swanson is expected to start in his new role on 1 July in the Sydney office, uprooting him from the Singapore office he was in previously.
He brings more than twenty years of experience to the role, with the majority of that experience in the A/NZ market.
Originally joining ShoreTel’s A/NZ business in Sydney in 2010, he moved to Singapore four years ago, most recently taking the helm as regional director for ShoreTel’s Asian and African businesses. He was in that role for 10 months.
During his time in Singapore, he was in charge of overseeing ShoreTel’s expansion into China and Hong Kong, and increased market penetration for the company’s products and services across Southeast Asia.
Before that, he held various other titles within the company, including Asia-Pacific channels and marketing director, Asia and Africa head of channel and distribution, Asia-Pacific distribution manager, and A/NZ partner development specialist.
Prior to ShoreTel, he worked at Avaya and Fredon in technical and channel capacities.
ShoreTel Asia-Pacific vice-president and managing director, Frederic Gillant, said Swanson’s range of experience across distribution, partner management, sales and marketing roles will aid him in this new role.
