IBM Commerce Group Asia-Pacific business integration solutions unit executive, Michael Vulcan, has joined Certus Solutions as its Victorian state manager.

Vulcan’s appointment is a result of Certus Solutions’ partnership with IBM, as Certus is an IBM systems integrator for the A/NZ region.

Vulcan’s role involves providing sales leadership for Certus, with specific responsibility for development and ownership of the sales plan and budget for Victoria, developing and maximising the partnership with IBM and driving cross capability sales.

Certus Solutions CEO, Brian Allen, said Vulcan’s experience in government, banking and finance, retail, manufacturing, distribution and logistics, as well as integration, supply chain and e-commerce solutions will be beneficial to him in this role.

“We are thrilled to have appointed Michael to the role of Victorian state manager. Appointing someone with such a wealth of experience within IBM and the IT industry as a whole is a real coup for Certus. We really look forward to working with Michael,” Allen said.

Prior to being appointed to lead the Certus sales team in Melbourne, he spent seven years with IBM Commerce Group in various roles, most recently as its Asia-Pacific business integration solutions unit executive.

Before joining IBM, he held two senior roles at Sterling Commerce for 12 years, where he was the managing director for nine years and also the sales director for A/NZ over three years, before IBM acquired the company from AT&T in 2010.

Some other businesses Vulcan worked for include VeriFone, James Hardie Business Services, and Reset Aust.

“I’m excited to be joining Certus at such an exciting phase in the company’s development and bring to the role a 20 year history of meeting and exceeding targets by delivering software and service solutions in both on-premise and as a service based business models,” Vulcan added.

The company also recently appointed John McMahon as its non-executive director last year.
