Dimension Data to drive data centre consolidation and applications shift to the cloud under multi-year contract

A complete review and consolidation of drinks company Frucor’s IT infrastructure, network and SAP environment, including a shift it to the cloud, is underway after the company inked a deal with IT services provider Dimension Data.

The project will see consolidation of Frucor’s data centres from seven to just two to support more nimble service delivery and cost savings, said Frucor’s group Digital Strategy and Planning Manager, Gavin Sharkey.

“Dimension Data’s Managed Cloud Platform (MCP) offers an excellent solution for Frucor that unifies the New Zealand and Australian businesses, and brings more resilience to the company,” Sharkey said.

MCP is Dimension Data’s on-demand cloud services delivery platform. MCP comprises servers, tiered storage and network infrastructure coupled with virtualisation technology, operating system software, and proprietary cloud management technology.

For Frucor, the project is not just about incorporating more technology, but about transformation into a digital business, Sharkey said.

“We will have better access to our production and supplier information, enabling us to make better informed decisions, providing improved customer service, and ultimately optimising the way we work," he said.

"The cost savings will be reinvested in the next phase of our digital transformation programme.”

Dimension Data’s Next Generation Data Centre Leader, Marcel Rafter, said Frucor recognises it will need to readdress its IT requirements on an ongoing basis to continue to grow and stay ahead.
