In an email to friends and colleagues seen by ARN, Romanin expressed his gratitude to the company he has run since 2010 and thanked contemporaries for their support
“I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to work alongside many talented individuals and leaders, both within ShoreTel, throughout the A/NZ ICT channel and the broader industry,” Romanin said.
“ShoreTel has afforded me many opportunities; I’ve constantly been challenged allowing me to achieve a number of personal career highlights. It saddens me to be closing this chapter of my career, but have no-doubt ShoreTel in Australia will continue to be a success.
“I will be taking a much-needed break with the family before looking to the next chapter. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, challenged me, and helped me to grow as a leader and individual,” he added.
Romanin joined ShoreTel in 2008 as the company’s A/NZ regional sales manager. A year later, he was named general manager - service providers, a position he held for over a year before being given the reigns of the local business.
Prior to ShoreTel, Romanin was at networking company, Avaya, where he was channel manager for A/NZ.
A ShoreTel representative confirmed that the company is currently looking for a replacement to fill the position, with Romanin set to vacate his role at the end of March.
In the meantime, ShoreTel's Vice President of Asia Pacific, Frederic Gillant, will take responsibility for the A/NZ regional director role until a replacement is appointed.
“Jamie has played an instrumental role in growing the ShoreTel organisation throughout Australia and New Zealand," Gillant said in a statement. "As one of the first ShoreTel employees in Australia, Jamie helped establish ShoreTel in the region by building an extensive network of partners and a team of employees that now spans four offices – Wellington, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.
"Jamie leaves a tremendous legacy and we wish him all the best in future endeavours,” he said.
Gillant expects the company's local leadership role to be filled during the next quarter.
Romanin's move to step down from his role comes just months after the company revealed a number of internal management appointments, as it kicked off the process of reshaping its A/NZ operations and scaling its cloud services.
The move saw ShoreTel's trans-Tasman operations re-structured into four business units - Channels, Client Sales, Service Design and Activation, and Customer Success.
Amid the re-structure, Craig Howe was promoted to manager of channels A/NZ, while Richard Ruth was appointed client sales director A/NZ.
At the same time, John Jackson was tasked with leading ShoreTel’s technical design and delivery team, and Bradley White was appointed manager customer success A/NZ.
