Optus Business has teamed up with Pure Storage to launch one of Australia’s first All-Flash storage platforms available either on-premise or in the cloud.
The new platform aims to consolidate workloads and reduce storage footprints under a subscription-based model.
The vendors said it allows Australian organisations to rapidly scale storage platforms for all types of workloads and accelerate application performance.
“This new platform can lower storage spend by up to 50 per cent, meaning All-Flash storage is now an accessible solution for businesses looking to upgrade their IT,” Optus Business vice-president of business technology and solutions, David Caspari, said.
According to Optus, the platform can simplify IT infrastructures and upgrades as businesses increasingly migrate legacy systems to the cloud. Additionally, Optus said the platforms performance can increase agility by providing real-time analytics.
“The launch of Optus All-Flash Storage comes at a significant tipping point in the adoption of All-Flash storage in Australia. Previously, businesses have been slow to adopt All-Flash storage due to perceived costs and complexity.”
All-Flash storage is a solid state storage disk system that contains multiple flash memory drives instead of spinning hard disk drives. Flash memory, which has no moving parts, is a type of non-volatile memory that can be quickly erased and reprogrammed as required.
Optus said the “compact” storage solution – as an alternative to larger on-premise spinning hard disk drive solutions – is built on Pure Storage’s portfolio of storage solutions including FlashArray//M, FlashBlade, and FlashStack.
“After years of redefining consumer technology, flash memory is poised to have the same profound impact on enterprises of all sizes and sectors,” Pure Storage country manager A/NZ, Mike Sakalas, said.
“We are thrilled to build on our strategic alliance with Optus Business to help make the technology more accessible to businesses in Australia, and look forward to helping our joint customers gain a data advantage.”
