Pacific Internet Launches Flat Rate Broadband DSL for Home

<p>Pacific Internet (Australia) has expanded its Home DSL range to include flat rate DSL plans with no excess fees, providing an attractive alternative for home Internet users. The company has also reduced the set-up fees on all of its Home DSL services to $99 with a shorter contract term of six months initially with pay-by-the-month options thereafter, providing more flexibility and better value for money for users.</p>
<p>Dennis Muscat, Pacific Internet’s (Australia) managing director said: “We are reducing the barriers to broadband take-up among home internet users by making the entry cost to broadband more affordable and alleviating concerns over excess usage and download charges.”</p>
<p>“The launch of the Home DSL Flat Rate plans provides a value for money alternative for those home internet users who prefer the flexibility of unlimited downloads and who also value a quality service,” he said.</p>
<p>Growing its broadband base is a key strategy for Pacific Internet. Over the past twelve months the company has organically increased its subscriber base by 195 per cent - outperforming the market which is said to have increased by 112 per cent in that same period.</p>
<p>The new Home DSL Flat Rate plans are:</p>
<p>• Home DSL 256 Flat Rate with optimal speeds of 256 Kbps downstream and 64 Kbps upstream for a monthly fee of $84.95 with unlimited data included and no excess data fees.
• Home DSL 512 Flat Rate with optimal speeds of 512 Kbps downstream, 128 Kbps upstream for a monthly fee of $99.95 with unlimited data included and no excess data fees.</p>
<p>Pacific Internet’s Home DSL Flat Rate plans also include free spam and email virus scan protection, free unlimited uploads, five free email addresses, 10MB webspace and unlimited local access to Pacific Internet’s Broadband LaunchPad, mirror, gaming, news and chat servers.</p>
<p>Pacific Internet’s complete suite of Home DSL plans (including the new flat rate plans) come with a $99 set-up fee and the flexibility of a 6 month initial contact term and pay by the month option thereafter. Previously Pacific Internet only offered a $99 set-up fee for an18 month contract term.</p>
<p>Pacific Internet’s Home DSL Flat Rate plans will be available nationally from 22 August, 2003.</p>
