CA Technologies has been appointed to the base list, for contracts up to $150,000, and the advanced list, for contracts worth $150,000 or more.
The new lists enable NSW government agencies with access to pre-approved software vendors for API management needs.
It is also said to offer “peace of mind” that the agencies select experienced vendors with proven API technology to engage in the government’s open data initiative.
According to the recently updated NSW Government’s Open Data Policy, open data “provides the intelligence for insight, invention and exploration that translate into better products and services that improve everyday life and encourage business growth”.
The NSW government said open data has a significant impact in improving government, empowering citizens, creating opportunity and solving problems.
"Government agencies can now confidently use CA Technologies pre-approved API management solutions to open their data to bring multiple online systems together, effectively enabling a seamless digital experience for constituents,” CA Technologies A/NZ API management solutions lead, Paul Kastner, said.
“To provide new and better services to citizens, the NSW government is leading the way with its open data initiative, by increasingly leveraging API management to securely share data.
“Exposing and integrating data via APIs enables the Lego-like "snapping-in" of new services, without impact to existing back-end legacy systems, and without the very high costs and long time frames associated with traditional integration programs,” Kastner added.
The NSW government worked with the Australian Information Industry Association to build its API framework, and to develop a set of standards for entry onto the API Advanced Registration Supplier Lists.
CA Technologies was selected for the list based on its proven ability to meet, and exceed all criteria.
