Enterasys Networks has announced the appointment of Gary Mitchell as managing director for Australia and New Zealand.
Mitchell joins the vendor following the shock resignation of Sheldon Speer from the same post in November 2002. In the interim, the business has been managed by Graeme Shorter – fast becoming the “Mr fix-it” for the networking vendor. Shorter also served as special adviser to the office of the chief operating officer during the reshuffle in Enterasys Asia-Pacific’s management earlier this year following the discovery of a $4 million hole in the division’s books.
Mitchell comes to Enterasys after a 14-year stint at Computer Associates. His most recent role was as general manager of the strategic accounts division for the management software vendor.
He has also been employed by CA as a vice-president for Global Professional Services, general manager of operations, regional sales manager, marketing manager, finance and administration manager for Asia Pacific and managing director for Computer Associates Hong Kong. He has also had some experience managing partner sales channels – once being employed as the channel and alliance manager for Computer Associates.
Mitchell will be based at Enterasys’ Sydney office and report to Enterasys vice-president for the Asia Pacific region, Attley Ng.
