Mobile computing accessories manufacturer Targus Australia has appointed IT Wholesale its regional distributor for Queensland.
Targus distributes its range of notebook computer carrying cases and other accessories nationally through Tech Pacific, Ingram Micro and mobile computing specialist distributor Brightpoint. In the last four months, channel sales manager, Tony Hospes, has begun appointing regional distributors alongside the national distributors in an effort to better serve the needs of the SME market.
“We recognised that we don’t service the SME market as well as we should,” Hospes said. “There are a lot of resellers serving the mum and dad market that need more attention. The broad-based distributors like Tech Pac have recognised this need and are looking to better equip their regional offices.”
In November 2002, Targus appointed BMS Technology to distribute its products in South Australia. Now armed with IT Wholesale in Queensland, the vendor is considering doing the same in other regional areas. “It is quite possible we will appoint more in these smaller regions,” he said. “In Western Australia, for example, if we don’t appoint a distributor we will probably consider a sub-distribution arrangement with Tech Pac.”
