Synnex unveils CTO assembly centre

Components and peripherals distribution giant Synnex has put the finishing touches on its $1 million investment in a configure-to-order (CTO) production facility which is now open for business.

Taking up 10,000 square metres within the enormous Synnex headquarters in the Melbourne suburb of Oakleigh South, the new CTO centre goes online with the capacity to assemble 300 PCs per day. It is designed to also accommodate the assembly of servers and production can be quickly stepped up to 600 per day in one shift when the anticipated demand comes.

Frank Sheu, managing director of Synnex Australia, said the new state-of-the-art production line will give local assemblers and even international vendors an opportunity to compete against the efficiency value proposition of Dell.

"Synnex's CTO strategy is for us is to build on our traditional components supply business by expanding our assembly and integration services to the channel and even to vendors if they are interested," Sheu said. "We want to assist our channel partners to compete with Dell by giving them a responsive supply-chain advantage."
