Nutanix has appointed Howard Fyffe as managing director of Australia and New Zealand, recruiting the tech veteran from Cisco, where he served as the vendor’s regional data centre practice lead.
Based in Sydney and reporting to regional vice president, Matt Young, Fyffe is tasked with driving the company’s local sales and operations, focusing on establishing growth within the enterprise cloud market.
“I’ve worked in enterprise cloud since its inception and what Nutanix offers is in line with the ultimate goals of IT leadership: a resilient, simple solution that frees up IT departments to focus on core business activities,” Fyffe said.
“IT has transformed from a back-end commodity to a real business enabler in recent years. Nutanix understands this.
"The company created hyper converged infrastructure as a true enablement platform and now is driving the development of enterprise cloud.”
In joining from Cisco, Fyffe spent six years in charge of driving the tech giant’s Internet of Things business across Australia and New Zealand, previously working as a director of Topspin, which was acquired by Cisco in 2005.
Bringing more than 25 years of sales, management and data centre experience to the role, Fyffe will report to Nutanix vice-president of Asia Pacific, Matt Young.
According to Fyffe, Australia and New Zealand markets are transitioning to digitising businesses, which involves rolling out new applications and micro services into existing applications.
“We want to help enable that strategy and capture that wave,” he added. “We defined the hyper convergence space and we’re on that journey to define our next step. That is around virtualisation and the next journey of enterprise cloud.”
Following his appointment, Fyffe said the vendor will align closely to its local distributors, with existing deals inked with Avnet and Exclusive Networks.
“We see what their strategy is, what verticals they’re going after that we too can benefit from,” he said. “They are our super partners and extend our reach into the partner community. We are a 100 per cent channel focused and will continue to be so.”
Going forward, Fyffe said Nutanix will be doubling its boots on the ground in the coming months, by growing its sales and channel teams.
In addition, the vendor is also in the process of signing on new customers on both sides of the Tasman through its partner network, and is aiming to quadruple its business within the next three years as a result.
“We will be adding more capacity to support the channel and drive more leads for partners,” he added. “The next 18 months will be big opportunity for hyper converged and are looking forward to working more closely with our partners.”
Fyffe replaces Wayne Neich, who moved into a new Asia-Pacific role to focus on strengthening Nutanix’s relationship with Dimension Data on a global scale.
