The new role will help maintain a local focus, Asia Pacific and Japan vice president, Scott Morris, said.
"It's a good sign for a growing company. The market is more aware of hyperconvergence and we have six years of development under our belt and the ability to credibly talk to the market in terms of install-base activity where we can show real TCO savings," Morris said.
Devlin will be responsible for driving the vendor’s growth in the region and within the enterprise sector, and will also be in charge of a team aimed at identifying new business opportunities.
SimpliVity has a team of about 30 staff across Asia Pacific and Japan.
"What I want to do is take a close look at our partner community and what we can do to help them build up their outreach to the market," Devlin said.
"The biggest challenge we face in this business is customer awareness of the market segment and what we do that differentiates us.
"I'll be working with the team locally to help get that message out via the reseller network and into the end users, because once they understand that, we can start building on the awareness around the cost savings that are available."
Devlin will be based in Sydney and report directly to Morris.

Devlin was previously the managing director for Ruckus Wireless and has also worked for WatchGuard and Brocade.
