Security vendor RSA has appointed a new head of channels and alliances for Asia Pacific and Japan, naming former TeleSign executive Michael Yell to the role.
Yell joined the company as of June 2016 and will be based at RSA’s Sydney offices.
The company has recently moved a number of APJ roles to Sydney including channel, inside sales, business unit leads and marketing.
Yell joins the EMC subsidiary at a key time for the vendor as it attempts to shore up its channel play in the region following the Dell/EMC Deal.
Sources close to the company say this push will ramp up at RSA Conference in Singapore on July 20 where a number of new programs and offerings will be unveiled.
As part of the role, Yell will be charged with implementing regional channel strategy in the region and managing the company’s partner base.
Commenting on the new role, Yell said, "RSA has had mixed channel model of direct and indirect approaches for many years, but when I saw the huge brand value and recognition that both EMC and RSA have globally an regionally, the innovative product portfolio and some of the traditional products such as 2 factor verification made the decision to work for RSA an easy one."

Prior to joining RSA, Yell was most recently at security vendor, TeleSign, where he held the position of vice president of sales and general manager of Asia Pacific and Japan.
Yell has also held regional leadership roles at Autodesk, Symantec and Fujitsu.
