Based on the vendor’s Prism storage architecture, this is its fifth-generation, high-end tape library. Quantum claims more drives and slots in a single chassis than its competitors and up to 73 slots per square foot. Features include active-passive power fans and non-disruptive power capabilities. Customers pay for infrastructure when needed rather than at the point of sale. Built-in remote diagnostics can probe to the component level and deliver notification of errors to system administrators to minimise fault fixing times. System components are accessed through front or back doors and panels to make servicing easier. The Mako tape library will be available through Quantum in January.
RRP: $93,000 for a base configuration.
