South Australia gives birth to the country’s newest born in the Cloud provider.

South Australia has given birth to the country’s newest born in the Cloud provider, with managed services company, Nuago, now officially open for business.

As the brainchild of five former Datacom workers, the Adelaide-based business is focused on 20-500 seat customers, targeting business, education, not for profit and local government verticals.

With a select group of tier-one vendors in key solution verticals already on board, Nuago works closely with Dell, EMC, VMware and Microsoft, providing core services around Cloud, solution consultancy and delivery, networking and security, as well as hardware and software procurement.

“South Australia was lacking an innovative IT company catering to a number of market segments,” Nuago Director of Sales, Connor O’Rourke, told ARN.

“We believe the best technical minds and solutions should be available to all organisations regardless of size.”

The founding team is made up of three family members, in Brendon O’Rourke, Mick O’Rourke, Connor O’Rourke as Managing Director, Chairman and Director of Sales respectively, alongside Craig Howarth as Director of Technology and Ben Scholefield as Director of Managed Services.

Brendon O’Rourke has worked in the IT industry for more than a decade, with a wide variety of experience across roles including technical deployment, internal and external sales, project coordination and project management.

Meanwhile Mick O’Rourke draws on over 30 years of ICT experience, having owned a successful computer dealership in Adelaide that grew from $5 million to $36 million in seven years, before being sold to an ASX listed company.

During his career, Mick O’Rourke also started up Datacom South Australia with five partners in 2006, that subsequently became the largest such firm in South Australia.

Prior to starting Nuago, Connor O’Rourke was the General Manager of Sales at Datacom, and holds numerous sales certifications across the Nuago technology stack as well as having completed a number of leadership and self-development courses.

In addition, Howarth has been working across the channel for over two decades, holding a number of industry certifications that include Cisco BVP, VMware VCP and Microsoft MCSE, while Scholefield in his previous role of Managed Services and Cloud Strategy Specialist at Datacom, draws on over 15 years of local knowledge.

“It’s a co-incidence that three of the five founding members are related, because we have selected the team based on expertise,” O’Rourke said.

“All of the founding members are shareholders and we have a formal “non-family” board process and shareholder agreement. Most importantly everyone’s view is treated as equal in importance.”

In housing the talents of ex-Datacom personnel, O’Rourke said the company’s key objectives during the next 12 months centres around building a market reputation, being recognised as a key player that uses technology to drive innovation and enable businesses to reach full potential.

“Technology is constantly evolving and can be difficult to keep up with, which is why we have created a team of dedicated specialists to help guide businesses through the best IT solutions for your organisation,” O’Rourke added.

“We follow the philosophy of “start with why” by Simon Sinek. This philosophy not only enables us to partner with you to achieve a common objective that revolves around your business outcomes, but most importantly identifies why you want to achieve them.”

As a key differentiator, O’Rourke said the new-look company aims to “offer clarity through all of the industry jargon”, shedding light on how technology can enable the strategic objectives of organisations through partnering.
