Microsoft has introduced a new channel partner rebate scheme in an attempt to boost sales of its XP desktop products.
The vendor is offering a 10 per cent rebate on the total sales value of Windows XP and Office XP products sold between March 1 and June 30 to resellers that increase sales of these products by 15 per cent over the duration of the promotion (and compared with the same period last year).
The rebate scheme is available to any authorised Microsoft partner that registers for the campaign on Microsoft’s partner Web site after February 13. It will also apply - and prove particularly attractive to - new resellers that did not sell any XP desktop product last year.
Microsoft channels manager, Kerstin Baxter, said that following their registration, partners would be provided with a range of marketing collateral from the campaign web site.
Baxter said the rebate scheme would be matched by an extensive end-user marketing campaign that the vendor would undertake for the products - including a direct mail out to over 70,000 organisations.
"Australia is taking the lead on this campaign," Baxter said. "I don't know if any of our other subsidiaries have such a scheme in place."
Rebates would be sent to eligible businesses in the form of a cheque, she said.
