3Com ends its Renaissance period

Networking vendor, 3Com, has ended its distribution deal with New Zealand-based IT distributor, Renaissance, by mutual agreement after deciding to ‘streamline’ its channel.

Ingram Micro, which previously carried 3Com connectivity products, will extend its product range to include the entire range of 3Com switches. Tech Pacific is the only other 3Com distributor in New Zealand.

“Over the past 12 months we have grown our business in New Zealand and we look forward to further growth through these changes,” 3Com country manager, Mike Clarke, said. “We are very impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment shown by Ingram Micro. Renaissance has been a valued partner and we extend our thanks to them for their support.”

Renaissance general manager, Mark Dasent, said the termination of the distribution agreement was a result of a change in strategies for both companies.
