Trident Subsea Cable has added former iiNet CEO, David Buckingham and iiNet chief business officer Greg Bader as non-executive directors to its board.

In a statement, Trident said the appointments will augment its industry expertise, financial and corporate management, and ability to scale into international markets as it progresses towards construction phase to build a high capacity, fibre optic subsea cable linking Perth, Jakarta and Singapore.

Trident CEO, Alexis Pinto, said the appointments come at a critical stage of corporate and operational development.

“Both Greg and David offer invaluable knowledge and distinct skill sets, having been part of the team that managed iiNet’s growth from a local ISP to a major national carrier,” Pinto said.

“Greg’s understanding of the global ICT industry and role in the PPC-1 cable provides operational and business development expertise, and David’s financial and corporate management background and M&A experience, will add firepower to the Company’s funding program and overall corporate growth plans.”

Pinto said the company was on track to deliver the highest capacity, lowest-latency fibre optic cable connecting Australia and Asia.
