BT offers software-defined network capability for Cloud

New solution integrates Cisco Intelligent WAN

Telecommunications company, BT, has launched BT Connect Intelligence IWAN.

The managed service aims for organisations to route and optimise network traffic and gain visibility of applications performance without spending more on bandwidth.

The solution also integrates the Cisco Intelligent WAN (IWAN) solution into the BT Connect portfolio of network services.

According to the company, the launch builds on the company’s existing intelligent network capabilities by using a hybrid environment and managed software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) technology.

The telco said the new capabilities include virtual private network (VPN) across globally dispersed sites, faster performance for applications and enhanced application visibility and analytics.

BT Global Services vice president, Keith Langridge, said, “BT Connect Intelligence IWAN leverages the Cisco IWAN solution to bring an important building block in the virtualisation effort. It will help our customers all over the world deal much more effectively with ever increasing bandwidth and traffic optimisation demands.”

Walgreens Boots Alliance’s businesses in the UK and 20 other countries are set to be some of the first BT Connect Intelligence IWAN customers.
