Commvault has partnered with Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) to help customers manage information and data and accelerate backup and recovery of applications and systems.
The newly launched Commvault Data Platform features IntelliSnap integration with Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) G Series enterprise storage arrays to include Hitachi Universal Replication (HUR).
Commvault said the integration into HDS arrays can provide local and integrated plicated application aware snapshots across an HDS managed replication architecture.
The company said the new approach makes it quicker to harness the power of HDS array-based snapshots and active replication that accelerates backup and recovery of applications, systems, virtual machines and data.
Hitachi Data Systems vice president of data protection sales, Tim Butchart, claimed the integration of Hitachi replication technology with Commvault’s platform gives customers fast access and recovery not only in the event of data loss, but provides the power to drive development, test and make analytical queries in their storage arrays.
“We’re excited for this extended partnership and the snapshot and replication management benefits our customers will continue to reap,” he added.
Commvault senior director, solutions marketing technical alliances, Don Foster, said that Commvault’s Data Platform provides customers with a completely orchestrated solution to manage active Hitachi Unified Replication on HDS Enterprise Storage arrays.
“As a result, they have access to a complete end to end solution for data management, leveraging the advanced abilities of the storage environment and the integration to provide near instant recoverability across the replication framework for any applications stored on the array.”
