MessageMedia expands its executive team
Australian mobile messaging service provider, MessageMedia, has expanded its executive team with the appointment of two executives. Matthew Varley has been named the company’s new chief operating officer and Cameron Buckley joins the company as its sales and marketing executive director.
Buckley and Varley assume their roles immediately.
The company said, in a statement, that it has expanded its executive team to help address increasing worldwide usage of its solutions. It claimed the continued expansion of the senior leadership team follows a period of rapid business development, supported by escalating adoption of mobile messaging.
“Our strategy to invest in people and next generation technology is instrumental in driving our global expansion and continued momentum in key markets such as Australia, USA and the UK,” MessageMedia CEO, Stuart Marburg, said.
"Both Matt and Cameron are seasoned technology-based media executives and their extensive global experience will be invaluable in MessageMedia's expansion within the industry.”
Varley relocates to MessageMedia’s Melbourne office from Wego.com, where he served as chief operating officer. He was in this role for about two years and was based in the company’s Singapore office.
Prior to this appointment, he held various key senior executive roles at the Wotif Group in both Australia and Asia. He started off in that company as its online marketing analyst in 2004 before going on to becoming its online marketing manager in 2005, online marketing executive general manager in 2008, and Asia executive general manager in 2010.
As for Buckley, he joins MessageMedia from Isentia, where he most recently served as its Asia chief executive. He was in this position for almost two years and was based in Singapore. Prior to that, he was the company’s Asia-Pacific chief marketing officer for a little over three years.
Buckley also was Media Monitors’ Victoria and Tasmania state general manager in 2007 and was promoted to take on the South East Asia general manager role within the company in 2008. He held this role for two years.
In total, Buckley has more than 20 years’ experience in sales, marketing and general management, having also worked with media service multinationals in Australia, the UK and Asia-Pacific including PMP Limited, Pacific Micromarketing (now Experian) and Axicom.
Marburg added that going forward, the company aims to use its IT solutions and help businesses of all sizes deliver business efficiencies, improve customer service and save money through the power of mobile messaging.
