ARN and Reseller News, Australia and New Zealand's trusted channel information sources, are proud to announce a stellar line-up of keynote speakers for the upcoming EDGE 2015 channel conference, featuring inspirational leaders from across the A/NZ region.
EDGE will be hosted in Port Douglas, Queensland, July 20-23, 2015.
Leading the line is Lieutenant General David Morrison, fresh from concluding his appointment as Australia’s Chief of Army in May 2015.
During a 36-year career as a soldier, General Morrison oversaw operational service in Bougainville and East Timor and as an officer led troops from platoon level all the way up to three star General - Chief of Army.
Facing many leadership challenges associated with leading a workforce of over 30,000 men and women, General Morrison addressed business resilience issues and handled the immediacy of decision making required during periods of crisis management.
Most notably however, General Morrison is probably best known for his strong public stance on gender equality and leading cultural change in large organisations.
In keeping with the nature of the high-quality A/NZ destination conference, and the theme of Channel Leadership, General Morrison will showcase his knowledge and experience to ask questions of individuals, SMEs and large multi-national companies… Are we the best we can be? He also has many of the answers.
Also descending on Port Douglas will be Bernie Brookes, the former Myer CEO who is widely regarded as one of Australia’s most outstanding retailers.
Like General Morrison, Brookes recently stepped down from his leadership role at Myer in May 2015, following 34 years in roles as president and executive of industry organisations across Australia, including Retail Traders Association and President of the Queensland Grocery Association.
Inducted into the Australian Retail Hall of Fame in 2013, Brookes was previously a Managing Director of Woolworths after a variety of general management positions in three states across the Buying, IT, Marketing and Operations departments.
Brookes experiences have seen him undertake various roles around the world, including in China and India before taking responsibility for managing the carve out of Myer from Coles Group in 2006, and the successful rebuilding of the Myer business which followed.
As the EDGE 2015 attendees will learn, Brookes is a renowned spokesman on leadership and an expert in transformation, having overhauled and turned around the one hundred year old Myer business.
Citing worldliness and multi-skilling as the two standout DNA characteristics for leadership, Brookes, like General Morrison, will offer compelling insights into the art of management, and the skills needed to exert influence across the channel industry in 2015 and beyond.
