NEC has appointed Regional Systems Support (RSS) to strengthen its server and storage support outside metropolitan areas.
Brisbane-based RSS is hoping the nationwide service agreement will help it break its tag as a Queensland-only company. The deal will see RSS provide onsite server support within four hours from any of its 94 regional offices, which cover the whole of Australia with the exception of capital cities.
“Our central office is in Queensland but it is frustrating that many people only think of us as a Queensland company. If the volume of work is there, this NEC contract could help to redress the balance by shifting work south and west to our regional offices,” said John Tyrrell, RSS general manager.
RSS has Cisco, HP and Sun Microsystems on its books but the contracts are for Queensland only.
“Service is the real differentiator in this market, and our partnership with RSS means that we can now take that service nationwide,” said David Henderson, national manager of storage and servers, NEC Business Solutions. “This represents a significant improvement in the marketplace for organisations such as mining and government which have widespread regional presences.”
