Key market plays for Data#3 this year?
Hybrid IT will be key for Data#3 and the market this year. As part of this, Data#3 will place a focus on public Cloud. While public Cloud is not a new concept, the maturing of public Cloud offerings from our leading global vendors, will make the solution more consumable for customers. This move is also reinforced by the shift to a service centric approach, not only by Data#3, but also by our customers.
Data#3 has placed a focus on applications with the establishment of our national application solutions business. The formation of our applications business centres on the investment in Wi-Fi analytics company, Discovery Technology. The application, CCeX, allows Data#3 to build and manage solutions created with a unique range of location and analytical services. We also provide a number of specialised industry applications such as our Data#3 Schools Suite for K-12 schools and business process management workflow solutions.
Key technology trends?
An increase in the adoption and maturing of Public Cloud from global players. Services will increase and prices will decrease. Complexity for customers will be deciding which workloads reside where and how they will be managed and integrated at the lowest cost and with the lowest risk.
A new breed of ‘lite’ applications will be created for the Cloud and will become lower cost, easier to use and take much less time to deploy. Gone are the days of monolithic ERP projects that drag on for months and years. Similar to public Cloud, the main challenge will be in relation to the integration and management of multiple best of breed applications.

The channel will become more important for global players as they seek to reduce their cost of sale and increase their coverage in the field.

Cloud is not the silver bullet. For a customer to invest, Cloud solutions need to possess the traditional valuable business practices required for all ICT investments such as; a business plan with risk analysis, return on investment and benefits realisation. We need to ensure that service standards remain high for cloud as per all other ICT solutions.
