AXXIS is Dubbo’s IT champion

It's been a while since the little NSW town of Dubbo produced a champion sportsperson, actor, politician, or anybody famous — but the dusty old place has managed to produce a champion IT reseller.

Dubbo-based AXXIS Technology was recently named “IT champion of champions” at the 2003 Small Business Awards. The awards are judged on what contribution a small business makes to the economy, to its community and to the “Australian way of life”.

They don’t come any more Aussie than AXXIS (you may recall AXXIS director Mathew Dickerson’s charming account from a recent US trade show, printed in ARN).

General Manager, Deborah Morton said the win was only over-shadowed by a kiss on the cheek from home renovation hunk and former stripper, Jamie Durie, during the presentation.

The kiss apparently caused so much controversy in the small business world (is that a red light on Deborah’s face or is she still blushing?) that Madonna and Britney Spears have labelled it a cheap publicity stunt.

Yes, the Dubbo gaol might be “old”, the Western Plains Zoo might be “famous”, but Dubbo now has a true champion.
