Dicker Data has proven - with its appointment as distributor for HP’s popular Compaq Presario range of desktop PCs and notebooks. - that when it comes to success in the channel, relationships are everything.
Dicker joins Tech Pacific as one of only two distributors to carry the range and will service some of Australia's largest independent retailers. Managing director Fiona Dicker said the distributor will launch a retail program for about 50 stores Australia-wide. The program means Dicker Data’s independent customers will be entitled to benefits such as rebates, collateral and credit, normally afforded the larger players.
“We’re incredibly excited about it all,” Dicker said. “We are looking at the large independent retailers that specialise in selling the HP product.
“This will provide the support to increase HPs penetration with authorised programs that will provide them with benefits.”
The Compaq Presario range is largely aimed at the consumer and home/small office market, and for the past few months has been restricted to the mass merchant channel. Large retailers such as Coles Myer and Harvey Norman will still deal directly with the vendor, but Dicker Data’s track record and strong relationship with its resellers proved a winning combination for HP.
“This whole business is relationships,” Dicker said. “I think it’s the same with any mature business really.
Presario range stockists will include CX Computer Superstore, eCom, Notebook World and Notebooks Galore.
