Community health provider, Mind, has deployed the QlikView business intelligence platform to better help Australians dealing with mental health issues.
The new platform will streamline reporting processes and provide managers visibility into how they are tracking against business targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Mind supports more than 18,000 Australians with mental health issues by providing services that help them to live independent, productive, and purposeful lives through a range of community and residential services.
It also provides training for peer workers and other mental health professionals across the sector to increase their knowledge and skills in recovery-oriented practices.
Given the size of the organisation and the community it supports, Mind generates a significant amount of data on clients, employees, finance and business targets, which needs to be analysed and acted upon in real time.
According to a company statement, With so many different business divisions within the organisation using different information management systems, it was difficult to link the data sources together and obtain a holistic view of its operations.
This inhibited the organisation’s ability to gain meaningful insights from the critical data it was sitting on.
Mind Australia information systems, general manager, Peter Laws, said the organisation needed a solution that could seamlessly integrate all data sources into one.
"Ultimately reducing our reporting requirements and giving us a clear and single view of how we are performing against our targets," he said.
"This is particularly important as we are a not-for-profit organisation with strict KPIs to adhere to."
According to a company statement, Mind chose the platform for its simple and intuitive guided analytics user interface, as well as its ability to pull data from almost any system within the organisation, quickly and seamlessly.
Laws said, previously, the processes taken to produce reports, were taking longer than neccessary.
"However, since we implemented QlikView, creating reports only takes a matter of minutes," he said.
"We are able to automatically import data from any source across the entire organisation to create insightful reports; saving us time and enabling our staff to reallocate their time to more value added tasks."
It also enables the organisation to see how it is tracking against business objectives, as well as targets set by the State and Federal Government and its partners, who provide funding to the organisation.
Managers at Mind for example, can easily see in near real time whether they are staying within their allocated budget, or if clients are receiving the right number of visits per month for their situation.
This provides Mind with valuable, timely information not only from a business perspective, but also for its clients and the community to ensure they are receiving the best care possible.
