Certus partners IBM in A/NZ mobility play

Systems integrator to deliver Mobile-as-a-Serivce solution on IBM platform

Systems integrator, Certus, has partnered IBM to deliver a new mobility-as-a-service offering to help A/NZ companies deliver enterprise apps to mobile devices.

Certus Mobile is a complete MaaS solution that includes out-of-the box and customised mobile app development, hosting, device distribution and management capabilities, device and data security software, and ongoing maintenance and support.

It will give companies access to IBM’s mobile platform in the cloud for a monthly fee, with little or no upfront costs.

Certus director of mobile solutions, Matt Smith, said historically IT departments faced some significant challenges around delivering mobile apps to the enterprise.

“Developing an enterprise-grade app has historically cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and taken months to bring to market; then there’s the infrastructure costs, security concerns and ongoing operational overhead associated with maintaining and supporting those apps,” he said.

According to a company statement, the Certus Mobile solution overcomes those barriers to adoption by eliminating the delivery and maintenance overhead.

Certus’ Premier Partnership with IBM ensures that apps are developed on secure, scalable, enterprise-ready IBM software.

The application framework also significantly accelerates time to market, enabling mobile apps to be delivered in weeks rather than months.
