Fledgling IT service provider, Extrastock has struck an alliance with eBay in an effort to bring more brand-name retailers, distributors and manufacturers to the online marketplace.
Brushing aside the concerns of the skeptics, Extrastock director of strategy, Cornelius Geary said that eBay is “going to be huge” as vendors realised that the online marketplace was a means of reaching millions of consumers.
“In Australia there is a still a bit of education required,” Geary said. “But in the US the fear factor [associated with online trading] is definitely over. eBay transacted US$9 billion dollars last year.”
To kick-start the process, Extrastock has become the Australian arm of ChannelAdvisor, a US-based software developer and services firm which specialises in getting businesses into online markets, selecting which products are appropriate and how they should be packaged.
Extrastock will use ChannelAdvisor’s applications and methodologies as well as leveraging its relationships with clients in the US, such as IBM, Dell and Intel.
