On-premise software for mobile app testing

HP has launched its mobile centre, an on-premise software solution for testing mobile applications.

The vendor said the software allows users to test application functionality and performance across real-world network conditions on mobile devices.

HP Software south pacific general manager, Branko Burgarski, told ARN the solution is designed to allow customers to deliver high-quality mobile applications and ensure a consistent, positive user experience under any circumstance.

“This will help create the best first impression for any brand with its users and more importantly avoid mobile applications pitfalls – like 25 per cent of users abandoning a mobile app after just three seconds of delay or 34 per cent of users switching to a competitor and being less likely to return.”

When asked about opportunities for channel partners, Burgarski said, “Many of our channel and alliance partners have built their businesses around our testing software by providing value added services to their customers to design, implement and support HP tools as well as provide training services to their users. Opportunity for our partners is to grow their business with their existing customers and to capture new business in the fast expanding world of mobile applications.”

It also supports simulated real-world testing to understand usability, design and defects across any device, OS or network; understand when transactional services are working securely and properly; measure and simulate impact of load using a combination of real devices and virtual users.

It can also gain insight into how customers are using the application to get actionable data to improve development; determine response times, speed and quality of an application; accurately capture and share critical defect information of a device; and integrate mobile testing into existing application lifecycle management (ALM) infrastructures.

Mobile centre also integrates with HP’s existing application life management suite including ALM, HP Sprinter, HP Unified Functional testing (UFT), HP LoadRunner, HP Performance Center, HP Network Virtualisation, and HP AppPulse Mobile.

HP Mobile Center is available in Australia now from HP and its ecosystem of channel partners. Burgarski confirmed that all current channel partners will be able to offer the software but said HP will not be targeting new partners with the product.
